Despite the venue only being half finished and criticism from tour operators, Donald Trump’s Scottish golf course is fully booked up for the next two months.
The announcement from Donald Trump’s official spokesman comes just weeks after a golf tourism organisation stated that there was a lack of interest in Donald Trump’s Aberdeenshire venue, however the American business magnate’s spokesman has stated that there has been a surge in interest and a rise in bookings since Trump International Golf Links opened to the public last month.
George Sorial said that the course is now “booked solid for the next two months”.
However, the future of the course still remains unclear.
A proposed wind farm that will be built in the North Sea is causing problems for the development of the rest of the land. Trump has previously stated that he had been reassured that plans for the wind farm had been withdrawn: “If [former Scottish first minister] Jack McConnell says to me and his representatives say to us that that won’t happen and then it goes away, and then I build and invest all this money and then it re-emerges – I don’t think that’s fair to an investor. What they did is they lured me in, I spent this money, and now I might regret it”
Ultimately, the wind farm which Trump is strongly against could possibly disrupt the creation of new jobs at the golf course as according to Trump International Golf Links official website, the development was intending to create 7,000 jobs upon the development of the hotel, resort and golf facilities, generating hundreds of millions of pounds for Scotland. However, despite the proposed offshore development, Sorial’s comments show that there could be a future for Trump International Golf Links in possibly the world’s most competitive golf nation.
